To whom it may concern,
HELP!! My husband was been incarcerated for back
child support on 2/26/05. He has been paying child
support, however, since he has been unemployeed
he hasn't been able to pay the full amount of
$1,400, but he has been making payments. They
are stating that he owes over $30,000 to his exwife.
He is supposed to begin his new job on Tuesday
but won' t be able to because of this unfortunate
situation.
We were never given any notifiation of a court
hearing for his ex-wife's charges. Supposedly
this went to court in November 2004 and we had
no knowledge of this. We borrowed money from family
members to pay for an attorney back in August
2004 to get the child support lowered and have
his ex in contempt since she wasn't letting him
see his children as well as being mentally abusive
to him, and yet the attorney did nothing for my
husband and his rights as a father.
I spoke to him this morning and he advised that
he no longer wants to represent my husband due
to personal matters. That is now another issue
to take up with the bar association and get back
the money we paid him. My husband is now sitting
in the Cherokee County jail and I am at a loss
of what to do. He is not allowed to have visitaion
until tomorrow. We haven't seen or spoken to his
children since October.........it is really so
sad for them.
No Thanksgiving or Christmas with their Father.
Unfortunately I was out of town on Saturday with
my parents when his exwife called him saying that
she was in Mcdonough and that the kids were crying
and wanted to see him. He was so excited and immediatly
agreed to meet her. Who wouldn't be excited to
see their two young children that they haven't
seen in four month's? He then drove from our home
in Buford with Christmas gifts in tow to Mcdonough
only to be arrested by the police there.
It was a mean and devious set up. I just cannot
fathom how someone could do that. As I said before,
I am at a loss on what to do. I would greatly
appreciate a suggestion from anyone who might
know what to do. Thank you for your time, it is
greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards,
